The MaxxPro Dash is billed by Navistar as a “lighter, smaller and more mobile variant” of the MaxxPro Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) family of vehicles. The company was recently awarded a contract to build 822 Dash MRAPs by February 2009, a contract valued at $752 million.The gross vehicle weight is 49,000 lbs. It has ballistic protection, a V-shaped hull design and can accept add-on armor to meet mission requirements. The Allison 3200 SP engine is a 5-speed automatic with 375 horsepower.
Navistar is also in on the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle competition, paired with BAE Systems.
